Muddy Run

Oh, sand is a lifesaver! And it's cheap too. No more mud, and it drains off nicely. It doesn't smell bad either if you take a little time and rake off the droppings and such.

We use pine wood chips everywhere on pathways and in large dog runs to quickly knock down the mud. Strategically placed stone pavers at door entrances and high traffic areas is also wonderful. Straw can also help but winds move it too easily when dry. A compacted sand base sounds like a good long term fix.
