how can i get rid of having a muddy run

I use sand in the spots near the coop and around the waterers. I have to do it every year.

deep litter method so I hear. Doing some studying on it now. From what I understand you don't add chemicals OR DE because you want GOOD bugs to come and stay. The chickens turn it looking for food just like they do in a forest floor so I understand. Sounds very interesting!
