This is a muscovy mule that I hatched this season. I'm not 100% sure it's the only mule I hatched, I had a couple others at times during the season that I wondered about but wasn't sure that got sold off while they were still small. This one was definitely more unique from hatch though.
I thought that it came from a Swedish egg, if that's the case, it's mom was a Swedish, and the dad was the muscovy. (Had it been the other way around and been a muscovy egg, the dad would've been a Swedish mix [mix with Welsh Harlequin or something I think maybe] - Can it work both ways? - Male or female muscovy can breed with a regular duck and produce a mule?) It hatched around the regular 28 day incubation length.
I can't remember now what color its body was when it hatched, but if I am not mistaken, it had a dark grey beak, and kind of orange feet, I think, and the claws definitely looked more muscovy like, sharper than a regular duck's.
The pics are not the greatest it (don't know if it's a male or female lol) didn't want to pose for me, and the light wasn't very good, and it was just the camera phone I used...
It's a neat looking duck. Kind of a burgundy colored breast, charcoal head, bluish wings and tail.
Just thought I'd share with the rest of the duck lovers.
