Mule Ducks

What would a Holderread SQ Runner X Muscovy look like?

Oh WOW!! Another reason to love Muscovies!!

Holderread says males from heavy laying strains or breeds will improve the laying capacities that their daughters would have otherwise. Hopefully that holds true for this cross as well if you started with a Khaki drake, also ducks from mixed breeds tend to lay a bit better as well, so add that to the mix. But since you are starting with a very seasonal layer who knows what the actual outcome would be? I would love to know myself.

That duck in the last photo was so striking that I did a search for more photos of muscovy/mallard crosses and found this:

Hi! BYC great for researching info! Though this is an old post very relevant to me now, I have a 2 - 3 month old duck or drake, dont really know yet and is a cross between a Pekin drake (I think) and a Muscovy hen. Looks identical to one of the images on your link with lots of brown scalloped markings and is just beginning to get teal coloured wing tips...althouhgh I have two Khaki Campbell drakes, they would have been too young to mate at this hatch. Is it unusual for a pure Pekin/Muscovy cross to produce such an unusual/colouring markings?
