Multi/Bilingual Language Thread

Hello! Not very long yet! Maybe a month or so? My sister-in-law knows it much better than me, and helps me converse with her. Do you know any German?

I know a few words, but only because my sister has been learning it .

Grammar is still an exercise in futility for me, especially forms that change with gender, but at the very least it’s comprehensible - and, many of these phrases I have heard on a daily basis.

I was pleasantly surprised to learn that Polish grammar is quite similar to Latin so I haven’t had much trouble with it. It’s the spelling and pronunciation that is difficult!

I see what you did there . I had to use the translation app, though. So far, my knowledge of Polish is limited to greeting people and asking for directions.

Afrikaans is basically made up of various languages, from all the different people that settled in South Africa, mostly to escape religious prosecution.

So I can understand what you type, and if you speak slowly I will be able to follow.

Ich = Ek = I
spreche = spreuk(praat) = speak
nur ?
wenig = weinig(bietjie) = little
