multiple coops on one run

Ive thought about this for a while too!

i want to create a chicken town. or a chicken street? cute little six or seven hen houses that are designed to look like real homes. they can be lined up like they would be in a little neighborhood.

oh a girl can dream.

Right now I am building a coop duplex which will have separate pop doors entering the run. The run will be divided into three parts with gates that I can open if desired. The third will be for broodies/trouble makers. I am also building broody/naughty/injured enclosures on each side of the coop that have a caged front. (They will be built like external nest boxes only a little larger.)

One would say that I have a very confusing set up for my 100+ chickens. I have about 11 chicken coops (in different locations) that they go in to roost at night. I NEVER have had a problem with overcrowding, fighting, not going in, etc. And to make it even more confusing, they have ANOTHER entirely different place (The HEN DEN) where the nesting boxes are. So they go in one place to roost at night, jump out of that coop and then find the nesting boxes in another area.

Here are a few of my coop pics. Not all pics of coops are posted below. I still have others.

After opening up the coops at night, they have to FIND the HEN DEN where the nesting boxes are located.

In my opinion, something as simple as multiple coops on one run is nothing compared to different roosting locations. If there is anyone out there that has built multiple coops on one run, then please post, so the OP will know if it worked or not. I have several coops/stalls in what one may consider a run but not really a run.

And because I love coops, so much, I am working on my plans for ANOTHER coop.

. I guess that's why they call me the crazy chicken lady. If it can be done, then I will do it.

i have been thinking about biulding the second coop out of pallets. maybe 2 high 2 deep and one wide . you could rap2 sides of it in chichen wire and then a roof and walls on the north and south sides be couase that is the direction the weather normaly comes from. i think it would be beter for the summer. but it is a start

Building your coop is a very cost effective way. I think that is a great idea. How many chickens do you have? What big is the area that you plan on building? You're off to a good start.
