Multiple eggs did her in.

I don't think it's impossible... I mean, it's weird and I have never heard of it, but nothing is impossible in chicken-land. Maybe she was truly just backed up. Did you bury her yet? Maybe if not, you could examine her to see if you can tell the cause? If it was all those eggs, there would probably be ripping, etc. Gross, I know, but it would answer the question.

She was unaccounted for less than 24hrs. She checked in the night before and we found her around 3p.m. the following day.

Has anyone else had this issue? I thought I would bump this thread as it is the only one I can find with the issue my girl is facing.
My Cochin has been in the coop for the past few days. She went in yesterday early evening and didn't come out again until mid afternoon today. She seriously was in the laying box all evening, all night and most of the day today. She did not come out to eat or drink - she did not come out when I let the other girls out to roam (needless to say I was starting to panic). When she did come out she was running around, eating her treats and overall fine. When I went to go and check the laying box she was in - over a dozen eggs!!!! I AM NOT KIDDING!
She stayed out of the coop for about 1/2 hour - walked about, drank, ate - and then went back into the laying box! ANY advice would be wonderful - thank you!

No impossible - my chicken is currently in the process of doing the same thing. Have you heard of this since this post was created? Any advice would be wonderful!

One of my girls has also laid multiple eggs in one day. She's laid one every day since she was 20 weeks old, then suddenly laid two small ones (under 40g), followed by 3 soft shelled. She didn't seem to be her usual self for about 24 hours but is now back to normal... following me around the run, pecking my feet and generally getting in the way. Thank goodness! Hopefully just a blip, but keeping an eye on her.

We had 6 chickens(about 6months old), 4 were attacked one morning by a coyote. We only found 3 bodies, so we checked the chicken house to get a count of survivors. There was 1 egg in the nesting box that I brought in. While cleaning up the yard we closed the 2 remaining chickens in their house. When I went out a few hours later to let them out there were 8 eggs in the box !?!
