Multiple Flocks sharing the same yard? Now- who goes where?!?!?!

Right now I'm not too worried about any cross breeding. I will probably alternate days for a while until everyone gets their area established. If I do eventually split the breeds then I will make sure to only let them out alone.

I think the most interesting part (at least to me) in having two flocks that free range together is watching yet another pecking order develop. My brahma girls have their pecking order, the mixed flock has theirs and there's a third pecking order that comes into play when they are all out together. To my surprise, though I expected all of the brahmas to be at the top of the pecking order no matter what given their age and size, some of them are subordinate to higher ranking birds in the mixed flock.

Well now the hard part is figuring out who goes where and with who.....

Roosters- Young BCM, Barnevelder

Hens- BCM, Cuckoo Marans, small barnyard mix(only reliable layer)

Pullets- 2 Delaware, 1 BCM

Youngsters- 1 Delaware, 2 Splash Marans, 1 BCM, 1 Blue Copper Marans, 2 LF Cornish

My goal is to have a steady supply of eggs and to have large backyard birds so that the extra roosters can go to freezer camp. I won't be incubating I'll be relying on broody hens.


Right now the young BCM is in with all the hens and pullets. The youngsters are in their own pen and the Barnevelder is still in the QT pen.

Ideas?
