I am getting three lovely Rooster's to keep as pets and possibly for show. I plan to keep them together in their own bachelor coop. They wont have any girls with them. However my mom has two coops only a few feet from mine, and she has both hens and roosters. They will be able to see each other but they can't get at each other because there is about a trucks width of space between her run and mine.

Will having hen's so close to my three boys be a problem?
Should I split up my boys?
Can I keep just one of them in the run by him self (he will have lots of toys and be handled daily)
If I keep one on his own should he have at least one girl?

If they see girls around them, they will likely begin fighting. You can keep them alone, but they may get bored or lonely. How many hens are in your mother's flock?

He is handsome!

I love chanteclers. Don't have any yet myself, but plan on getting them in the next couple years.

It is likely that your roosters will fight if they can see other hens. If they can't get to them they may get their frustration out on one another. My roosters argue, but they rarely get into serious fights because the barn is so large those low on the pecking order can escape and still manage to have hens, food, and water. Still, I have to make sure I keep my number of roos down to around four or five at a time, sometimes I've had over 7, but this is when I had a lot of teens and was choosing which ones to keep and which ones to get rid of.
