i got one for you.
i am 21 years old next week.
when i started getting into chickens 2 years ago. mom came up to the coop to learn how to take care of them (i am at college) and she asked "what is the rooster doing to the hens. attacking it?"
"no mom, that is how chickens have chicks"
needless to say she undersood and tells me on the phone that out of all my roosters that the large buff columbian roo and my 2 milly bantms are horny boys.
has about 10ish roosters of different breeds that mix with my hens. flock size ~ 70+.
we have an orchard, and so live rurally, and she had a grandmother who raised chickens.... so i found it funny that she had never saw how chickens do it. Me? from watching discovery channel at a young age i understood the process of how animals, chickens (I was 5ish, had a neighbor who had chickens and told me that the rooster "steps on the hens, and the eggs will hatch chicks"), and horses did things. took till i was 15ish to understand humans (hollywood cleared that up for me)
