Mumsy's Romantic Garden Advice

Remove the fruiting part!!!!!!!

That was obviously written by somebody who had never grown a morning glory, maybe never even seen one!!!!!!

Yes that was my guess too, but there are gabillions of seed pods on any one morning glory, that is all you would ever do was pick seed pods!!!!!!
I know, I wouldn't even bother. If you have a cat stupid enough to eat them, might want to get your cat checked out ;)

Though Henry just might... I caught him eating rocks the other day. I think he was make believing to be a chicken.

It would take a lot to make him hallucinate given his weight though.

There are not a lot of records I can find of it causing long term damage or death in animals.

@Justine: I would be more worried about Henry eating rocks than poisonous plants. My sister had a dog that swallowed them. Two expensive operations to remove the first two. The third rock, they put her down. It can be habit forming for some dogs. Rocks of a certain size don't pass.

Not sure I want to plant Morning Glories if they are a plant that can get out of control. They sure are pretty though.

I spent the last six hours harvesting for the fair. Picked my Cinderella pumpkin that was growing outside the Potager garden last. It may weigh 25 or so pounds. Not bad for a pumpkin picked the second week of August from a plant that was never fertilized, prunned or thinned.

Dug up the potatoes growing under the pumpkin vines. Slugs got some but there are plenty to choose from.

Purple Majesty is my favorite blue potatoe. La Soda is my favorite red. This is 1/3 of the crop.

Had a very difficult time finding five matching pickling cucumbers. Every thing is in a cooler in the shade. Resting before heading to the fair grounds. Tomorrow is judging. *Eeeekk*

I think they are more invasive in the warmer areas. The cooler areas w/ cooler summers and cold winters tend to contain them better.

The rocks were breaking apart in his mouth. I think they were sand stone rocks. He was actually chewing, and I could hear them break, and he'd swallow. That dog eats everything.. I have to really watch it.

Good luck tomorrow Mumsy. I love your Cinderella pumpkin. I have several pumpkins but none are orange yet.,I have one growing thru the fence. It's sure going to be an original shape when I cutmthe wire to get it out lol

The ladies at the fair have been saving coffee grounds for me during the fair, I put some around my new hydrangea and my mom says the roses will like them also. I never knew that. She also puts them around her plants in pots. It keeps the squirrels from digging up the plants when they are storing their winter foods. She said its worked so far.

Love the pumpkin! I hope you did well at the fair! I have been doing lots of catching up in my garden. Finally getting a fair amount if tomatoes for this time of year and my second crop of green beans are fruiting now also. That's all I have coming in now.

Mumsy I know flowers are your specialty but do you have any suggestions for trees?

I planted a soft maple about 5 years or so. Tonight when I stopped home I found the center part had snapped off :(

We had rain last night and winds today but not high winds. I have no idea why it snapped. Doesn't look like its rotted where it broke off. My mom wants me to trim the last 2 tall branches down ...........it grows inside the veggie garden and is my favorite shady spot to sit & watch chicken tv.
To the right you can see the tree with its 2 limbs that are left and the open middle where the branch snapped off
