Some how this site caught my attention. I am a Napoleon breeder. And I am curious about where your information about the Munchkins and the Napoleons are came from because if have been reading some inaccurate informant ion your posts. I am sure if you go the Sheri's website and contacted her she would be glad to give you the information you seek
Napoleons are healthy cats. They are not prone to any breed specific health problems. The only health issues this breed could have would be any general health issues that all breeds or most breeds have. Napoleons and Munchkins don't have back problems. If someone works in a clinic they are liable to see many cats come in with health problems because it is a vet clinic. The dwarf gene that is a natural mutation and all these dwarf short legged cats can run, jump and play like any other long legged cat. They may not be able to jump as high as a regular cat like onto kitchen counters and tables with out a chair or other help.
Napoleons do come from a hybrid cross between the Persian group cats and the dwarf Munchkin. So the Naps have faces similar to the Persian doll faces which are round heads, round faces and big round eyes. And then some kittens in the litter will have short legs and some will have long normal legs. Both type Naps are sweet, loving, healthy, beautiful kitties. Naps come in all colors and patterns like the Persians with some additional colors like sepia and mink.
There are Nap breeders all over the world and spcefically all over the US. If you think that you would like more information or would like to purchase a kitten, you can search for any Nap cattery or you can go to my website at purwaky.net .If you are looking for a Munchkin contact the Rugrunners Cattery http://www.themunchkinrugrunners.com/Ourmunchkin_.html
Can I make a little suggestion? IMO it is a lot more easier to hunt for the information on the internet and follow through by contacting the breeder for more information than going to a chat site an quoting inaccurate information back and forth.
Any Nap, Munchkin or any other type breeder would be happy to give you the correct information that you seek.
Yes Munchkins have been around for quite a long time for one reason only.......they are a healthy breed of cat otherwise the cat associations would not have accepted them and breeders would not have keep breeding them. Munchkins and Napoleons are registered with TICA. There are many dwarf breeds that are hybrids using the Munchkins. Thank you Purwaky Cattery
