Murray McMurray Hatchery?

Pics
What do you do with all those eggs? We have 8 hens, and they've been laying gazillions of eggs (way more than the chickens). Eight eggs a day adds up really fast. Lots of people around here want to buy free-ranged chicken eggs, but not duck eggs.
What a shame more people don't know how good duck eggs are! Ice cream, pound cakes, omelettes, custards and much more use lots of eggs. Perhaps, a superior egg for baking uses, I love duck eggs and goose eggs are not bad either! Educate some friends or family with recipes you have made with duck eggs.

I’ve ordered ducklings from Murray McMurray. They actually were not shipped from them but from Metzger Farms in CA. They arrived fine, and my second order of ducklings I ordered from Polk hatchery in Ohio. Same thing, came from Metzger in CA.
I would recommend you call MM and confirm that they will be shipped from their facility rather than Metzger. They are not at all transparent on their website about the origin of the delivery.
did you mean Metzer Farms?

Metzer farms has a new hatchery being built in Memphis ,Tn., to expedite shipping to the east of the USA. They have a great track record of successfully shipping from California to all parts of the USA, however, this will help in this post pandemic world of disfunctioning government agencies and corrupted postal authorities. The problems with mailing chicks has always been because of postal employees failing to do their job correctly. Good postal employees made this work well for most deliveries, but in recent years, the postal service has declined in leadership and in the quality and commitment of employees to provide earnest , caring and effective services. I have mail ordered chicks since 1976 and the service has declined in reliability over those decades. Murray Mcmurray and Metzers have both been reliable hatcheries for quality and care in shipping, the USPS is and always has been the wild card!

Gosh, yeah particularly bad since DeJoy got into office. Absolutely blatant conflict of interest with his investments in XPO Logistics freight. I never lost chicks until this year, and several of my friends who ship invertebrates and fish have had the same problems with DOAs. :/

Hi! I have ducks and got addicted 😂 sooo I’m getting more.lol
So I want to order them from a hatchery and I was thinking Murray McMurray. 1st because it’s fairly close to where I live. 2nd because they sex their ducklings 3. Because they have the breed I want 4. Because I’ve heard some good things about them.
I have hatched out ducklings before and I always get drakes so that’s why I want to get them from a hatchery to make sure I get breeding pair and hens. And our farm store does carry ducks but they have been going so quick and I probably wouldn’t be able to get the breeds and pairs I would like to get. So does anyone have any experience getting from Murray McMarry ? Or I guess any hatchery that you like I would love to hear!
Thx Alli💛🦆
Have only ordered from them once. They came highly recommended. They shipped 2 day old five dollar chicks when we paid $25 each for four 1 month old pullets. They argued with me about the age. There's a huge difference between a 2day old and a 1 month old and I had loads of pics to back me up which I sent to them and argued. They eventually refunded the entire amount. We only asked for the difference. Then 1 of those 4 turned out to be a cockerel. They were going to send me another month old female. I purchased a second to keep it company in transit. One of those was a darn cockerel too! I didn't even bother contacting them. I just rehomed the extra boy and haven't used them again. I have also received the wrong breeds from a few other places. My latest purchase was from Ideal and that order was perfect.
We should have what we need now to raise our own supplies. Will just eventually have to get new roos so they aren't inbreeding too far. Good luck!
