Murray mcmurray?

I've used murray mcmurray for years and not had any major problems. I did have one entire order arrive doa but that was due to severe mishandling from a local post office employee and the hatchery replaced the entire order. I suspect a lot of the doa's are handling errors by postal workers rather than the hatcheries fault.

Regardless of what hatchery you use, i would arrive at the post office as early as possible on the day they arrive. Since the doa experience i make it a point to arrive at the post office at 6:00 am. The front office is closed but my local branch allows people getting live chicks to park in back and pick them up before they open in the morning.

This is the second year that I've ordered from Murray McMurray, we've order 25 chicks both times, just so we could get the mystery chick and spend a few months trying to figure out what it was. Last year, we ordered 22 RIR pullets, 2 EE pullets, 1 EE roo, and the mystery. We received everything we ordered, plus an additional EE roo, and the mystery chick was a Golden Laced Polish roo. All arrived alive, and we didn't have a single casualty, until one of the EE girls passed away of unknown causes (a few months later, right as we were beginning to look for our first eggs). This year, we ordered 16 RIR pullets, 2 Barred Rock pullets, 2 Buff Orpington pullets, 2 White Leghorn pullets, 3 EE pullets and the mystery again. Just like last year we received 27 babies on the expected day if arrival. Again, we received everything per the order, plus a Buff Cochin, not sure of sex yet, and another freebie. Eveybody is happy and healthy, after 3 weeks. I can't complain about anything with McMurray, except maybe the minimum order limits on turkey poults. Both orders have arrived on the expected day, and everybody was happy and healthy when we received them. I'd love to order more but I'm limited on space and can't really manage that many, but maybe if I can manage to get rid of some of my older "mutt" bantam chickens that I inherited, I can order some more pure bred full size chicks again next year! Overall, I'm an extremely satisfied customer. I highly recommend Murray McMurray.
