Murry McMurry hatchery-anyone want any?

Rachel's Hobby Hatchery :

I have orderd chicks from sevral local feed stores in past years and Im not impressed with the quality... also they all have a very limited choice of breeds & variaties (example: I can only get buff orpingtons or tan & white Runners & TSC only has pekin ducks). I only want like 10 chicks, I dont have the $ or the room for 25 more birds...

Keep looking - - - you haven't found the right feed store yet. Ours will let you order ANYTHING that the hatchery stocks. The quality depends on which hatchery they order from - - - but it is still only going to be hatchery stock . . .

You can ask where they order their birds from - - you might get lucky and find one in a nearby town that orders from MM. Ours orders from Ideal and I was thrilled with being able to order only what I wanted - - no mins,

I agree with joe17!

We have quite a few feed stores in our area...they provide hatchery chicks because they order in mass quantities from hatcheries. We have bought a few chicks from TSC (completely impulse)...we love them, but they are no where near quality. Something else you can do is find a breeder near you. If you want better quality than TSC/hatchery...ask around. I bet even the TSC people know of breeders in your area. That way you get what you want, the amount you want, and if you want more...you know where to go! Keep asking on here too...I bet you'll find someone surprisingly close to you! I did.

My first flock came from Mypetchicken.com.. They were real friendly there and my local post office here was wonderful. Very helpful, and I only ordered 8 females, and 1 male.

They shipped them on Monday of course, so I called my postmaster. He said that he would keep an eye out, and would call the postmaster at the next level up. My post office lineup is Shreveport, Monroe, West Monroe.. I got called from the Monroe office and wanted to know if they could take them to west monroe, AS SOON AS THEY hit the back door of the West Monroe office, the dock clerk called and said they were here, He took them into the office to keep them cool. I wanted to tell him to leave em outside.. but I couldn't talk him into it. I then received 2 more calls from 2 different people letting me know that there were chicks.. I was already on the way to get them.

When I arrive at the PO, I saw the box sitting on the table behind the clerk. I told her my name and that I needed to pick up a box, she said, "your the guy with the chickens!" Everyone had to come up to the front to look at them before I left, of course I was grinning and had that delivery room feeling of the proud papa..lol

All of my Feed Stores around here only sell straight runs, and to be honest, even if they were sexed, kids pick them up, show them to mommy, mommy says give me that, nasty chicken, then drops it in A box.. So I stray away from Feed store chicks. Just like Forrest Gump and Choc-o-lets, you never know what you are going to get.

Your feed stores sound like TSC. That is the only feed store that we have in this area that does like you describe. All the others have sexed chicks and keep them in cages so that no one handles them except them.

My hatchery hens lay a heck of a lot better than the ones I paid bufu bucks for from breeders lol. Of course the ones I got from breeders were for quality and not quantitiy eggs/hens.
For me, I need both
