I'm no duck expert, but to me, they look like females. Do they still chirp/trill sometimes, or do they hiss/huff?

I have Muscovys as well, and my drake isn't quite a year old yet, but he has a ton more of the red stuff around his face, while my hen has very little like these two ducks. My hen is also much smaller than my drake, so if the birds are on the smaller side, they're probably female.

Like I said, I'm a newer duck owner, but I hope I helped in anyway.

They both hiss
If they both hiss, most likely male.
So, your friend would know because if these are the only 2 ducks that they have - there would be no eggs.
I thought for sure the second duck was male - due to head, body, and feet.
The other one that is grey and white looks more female. But, female muscovies chirp.

I agree that they are probably male with the person above, especially if they don't trill or have some sort of chirp. At first I was thrown off a bit that they don't have many carnuncles (the red stuff), but I can see it now I guess lol.

I don't know if your friend possibly had them since they were babies, but I know that males (probably all males??) have bigger feet than females. (its at least what I've heard before, and I got my drake when he was only a few weeks old and he had big gangly feet)

I just reread the original post, if there are eggs, I am thinking the first one is female. But, it is confusing if you are getting hissing from both and no other sounds. The male would be bigger with big feet and thicker legs. It would be obvious.

Thanks everyone i will take it all into consideration the next time i visit
