I doubt town officials want more media coverage, so my guess is that the sedative-laced food will be offered to the ducks early in the morning, when people aren't around to witness it, and the capture will probably not take very long after that.

My advice is go before the town acts. Take bread, and a couple teenagers. The professional exterminators catch them with long handled fishing nets... friendly things just walk right up. Easier to catch than most chickens!

that would be good, I just have to find out when they are going to give them the sleeping pills.
I don't think i'm going to be chasing those ducks around the pond and the pond is huge, little help here!!!!!!!

agreed.

I have not heard anything about this. Is there anyway to stop it? petitions or something? animal rights groups? Could you please foward me a link to that thread where you read that. I would love to get more involved in this. I have room to take in a few even if that means going up there and catching some myself and bringing them home.

Ummmmmmm i live in Florida jacksonville and do you hate me?nice you guys are REAL NICE.wow but i agreee some people are stupid i cant have ducks in florida but i keep them in secret hehe i always go to this lake and drop of pounds of duck food instead of popcorn and crakers that the people throw i also gove them lettuce and celery but my mom says i should save some for my duck since my other duck......died.........R.I.P. Honey

Oh man this is one teenager that really wishes she was closer!!! I don’t mean to toot my own horn but I am pretty good at catching ducks if I do say so myself which I just did, lol not to mention the fact that I actually enjoy catching them it’s weird I know but I think it’s fun. Plus it’s all for a good cause!! SAVE THE DUCKIES!!!

More of the bureaucracy running wild...next you know, people will have to have an insurance policy to just go into the park and throw feed to the ducks...that's insane!

Shaking the eggs ruptures the air cells and can damage the embryos, causing them to not develop and hatch, which is a lot more humane than poisoning ducks that are already out and walking around.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that at least they are killing them somewhat humanly, I've heard of ways that are a lot worse then that.

Why? If you don't know then how on earth could you be totally against it? Here in Canada they sometimes do that to the Canada Geese because there are sooo many of them.

Then your really not helping the situation, feeding the ducks is only going to increase the population = more ducks killed.

It wouldn't hurt the mother, but it would kill the ducklings in the egg, since the time she's on the nest, she's not laying more eggs for more ducklings.
