Muscovy color?

I ordered some muscovy eggs that were supposed to be from solid black birds. I didn't hatch black birds, but I'm curious as to what color Whistle is. His sibling is solid white. They're only around two months old so I'm guessing the color can still change, but black appears completely out of the question.

Any help at identifying this color is greatly appreciated.

Is it possible it's a mixed breed duck? I had one this color a few years back, I called it a dun barred, probably not the correct term. I can see yours looks barred. Definitely not black.

My first crossing of my blacks produced black, it was the next generation when all the colors started to show up.

Here's a good site for showing colors,

Anything is possible. When they first hatched they didn't have the normal black and yellow pattern that I'm familiar seeing on muscovy ducklings.
Thanks so much for the link. Im just starting to research into their genetics as I'm gaining more of an appreciation for the breed.

It does not seem to be Muscovy because it does not look like it has the carnucles. (the red things on their faces)

Too young to develop caruncles. They're seven weeks old. From what I have read, muscovys don't start developing caruncles until sixteen weeks old.

You should notice some caruncle development around two months old. And I suppose the picture could be making things look off, but the shape of your duck looks wrong for a muscovy. It looks mallard derived.

These are three of my current girls at 13 weeks old.

I did not know this before. I have had only one Muscovy, and she developed weirdly. I will make a post about her in the future. Thank you!
