Hello, I have a 3-month-old Muscovy duck that died this morning. Three days ago, we noticed that one of her legs seemed hurt. We brought her inside to keep her confined; we gave her warm baths, and we had food and water next to her. Besides not being able to use one of her legs, she seemed fine. Then, this morning, I came in to check on her and she’d died. Does anyone have any idea why this could happen? I’m very new to raising ducks and chickens, and I just feel terrible. I feel like I should have been able to do more to help her We have two other Muscovys and four chickens. They all seem fine. Any insight from everyone would be so appreciated! Thank you.

Welcome to BYC! So sorry for your loss. The best thing to do would be to have a necropsy done. Tell me where you live and I will find a lab for you. If this is something you want to consider, place her in the refrigerator or an ice chest. Do not freeze.

Thank you for getting back to me. We already buried her in the backyard. Do you think I should be concerned about the other ducks/chickens?
