Muscovy duck just started laying now bleeding!

Can you describe the grinding sound?

The bleeding is coming from an open wound near the vent. I think I can get that cleaned and under control. The vent is the only thing I’m worried about now. It is dried out and puckered. The noise sounds like two eggs rubbing together.

She’s finally bathing herself in the tub so I’ll give her a moment to sort herself out and then I’ll try and get the noise on video. really wish my husband would hurry his butt up and get home to help lol

Just got another look. Sorry no pictures. The vent is definitely prolapsed. The skin around it is dried and crusty. I don’t think I have the stomach to try and trim the dead tissue away. I think I might lose this girl.

After her bath, if you can post some more photos that would be helpful. The wet feathers may part enough to get a better look.
