Greetings,
New to ducks/ chicks. My Muscovy hen is on a batch of fertilized eggs. It is winter in Western NC. I have her in a coop with loft, it is deep with straw. I have tarps over the shingled roof to make sure there no leaks. Also, I have stuffed hay under tarps and all around loft area. It is warm when I check underneath hen. Also the drake is in the coop and sleeps up in the loft at night.

My question is :

Do I move her and the eggs in a house crate with nest to make sure she is warm enough? It has been sunny, today it was 60 degrees, the nights are chilly ( 30’s). Or, do I wait until ducklings are hatched and move hen and ducklings in the house crate at that time? Thank you for your time and I appreciate your help.

I think they'd be fine outside the entire time.

If you want to bring them in, you can do it whenever you feel like it. I personally would do it after the ducklings hatch just so I know that she will continue to stay on the nest and she won't be disturbed.

The nights to us are chilly, but to a duck it doesn't feel that way.
