Muscovy duckling hatching (pictures)

Quote:
If and when you put your duckling out try to introduce with out the drake involved, has she/he met the rest of the flock at all. On nice days I would take it out and let the rest of your birds meet it so it starts getting acclimated to the rest. My duckling lived in the house but I made sure it had ducky time with everyone else so it would feel at home with everyone and viseversa. But it was summer too, made a difference. I hope you have a girl.

Hadn't thought of that, was going to try and introduce by seperating her with a wire fence... but good idea

Separating with fence is good too, I just didn't have the setup for it so I just sat and watched in case someone wanted to get nasty, every once in a while one of the girls would grab, but the duckling learned to stay far enough away that they didn't get him often. Now he is larger than them but the older ones will still try to put him in his place, just part of duckie life I guess.

Sunday afternoon...

Think she likes the camera... starting to darken around the eyes now as well...

Well I have been cooing over her like she's hen, although was a little concerned about her legs, not very shapely - have bought her some lovely Duck Stilettos to help.... <rolls eyes>

She's rather large now and hoping to introduce her outside soon

Pretty though hmmmm...

Strange?? Funny?? But she just "peeped" for the first time

You know the high pitched whistle sound they make?

Do males do that too?
