Muscovy Ducklings

I'm excited to see what happens. I've read a bunch on the color genetics, but I still really don't have an idea lol. Nothing I've seen shows black with buff or lavender. Maybe it just ends up being a hodge podge of colors from those color crosses and that's why. I guess I'll find out. One of the babies definitely has more brown colored than the others that are more varying shades of grey. I did think it was interested when I read about the yellow "glasses" around the eyes being a sign they carry double the gene for white head.

Well the babies are now a week and a half-3 and a half weeks and getting SO BIG! These guys are much friendlier than our KC's were. Our yellow baby wants to snuggle all of the time. Trying to take his/her pic was interesting...kept running at me and crawling into my arms. I'm in love! I'm thinking the yellow is a female and the other 3 and a half week old is male by sheer size alone. When I got them they were exactly the same size and now the darker one is much larger and the legs are very thick compared to the yellow. I know it's early but that's my prediction. Any other guesses are welcome. It will be fun. To see who's right!

Not the best of them, but we hit 60 today so They got to go out and play in the little bit of grass that was out :) They're getting big but still unsure of genders. They have all had feathers start coming in. It looks like we have 2 blue and white, a white, and 2 chocolate and white. The rest of the clutch hatched and we're picking them up this weekend. 4 more babies!

The babies are getting so big! I got 3 4 month old ducks as well to hopefully my girl count. They were separate in the barn but would call back and forth to each other. They were introduced recently and they all love each other. It's funny how they stick together away from the KCs.

The babies got to go out into the pen today with the other farm critters and were very excited to explore.
2 of our new girls...when I got them the woman said one was black and white and 2 lavender and white. Looks like 2 shades of blue to me??

Dawn duck is in the back (chocolate barred?) And Trex is I the front who has to be a boy. He's the biggest...almost the size of the 4 month old girls.
