The one and only time I took a duck to a local avian vet, it cost me $380 for a tiny bit of antibiotic, a dewormer I could've purchased at Tractor Supply and a diagnosis of, "Hmm, not sure. Hope she gets better!" All that for a $6 hatchery duck!

I tried to get a vet friend of mine to take a course etc on poultry, and she said, "Nope. Not happening. I have zero interest in treating chickens." So now I treat my poultry myself, with the help of excellent people on this website.
