I have a family of muscovy ducks here in Virginia. While the female was laying on her eggs...the male had left and returned when the babies were quite big. Out of the 14 eggs....only 4 survived. 2 females..2 males. The females have left about a week ago. The male drake keeps chasing away the 2 males that I do have come up to eat. Well just the other day one of the male babies was mating with the mother. Now granted the babies were born on September 28, 2017. Is it normal for the babies (not so much anymore) to mate with the mother? I thought they matured at one year old? Quite the experience to witness this though.
