I got a muscovy trio 3.5 weeks ago and got 1 egg the first day and 1 the second. Both just random in the grass in roughly the same place. We have 3 acres in the country surrounding by farm fields and a pond (which they have been in but don't use daily and sit in a dang tiny bucket lol). I have not found any eggs since. I believe that the male and 2 females are around 1 year old. I have never seen the male mate the females. They fly up and roost on the coop run roof and he roosts on the ground facing the coop/run. I have looked and looked, but obviously with a property such as mine, there are many hiding spots lol. I have had chickens for 3 years but am new to ducks. Is this normal? I was thinking stress from the move yet and that the two eggs were already in process. I did not get them for eggs, but to eat mosquitos due to where we live, eggs are a perk. Do they generally lay year round minus the "winter hiatus" like chickens? Do they have shorter periods where they lay and then not?
