Muscovy Eggs

Hi! Australian Muscovy Ducks (newly-coined name for sub-breed; see picture) are not laying eggs... I think they're females... any advice, please?

How old are they? Are they mixed or pure muscovy? Generally my muscovy hens don't start laying until the following spring after they hatched. Muscovy lay only to hatch.

Those Muscovies are too young to lay. They usually start laying when their caruncle is nearly fully developed. Similar to a pullet's comb.

They are adorable! My two 10 month old Muscovy sisters just started laying. I live in the Northern Hemisphere, so we are just going into spring now. How old are your ‘Scovies?

To be honest, I don't know how old they are- I purchased them looking pretty much the same as they do now. Unfortunately, one of them (see picture) just died... no idea why; just found him there, dead (in the picture, he is not dead- he's just peeking into his cage...). Kessel23, thank you for your reply (as well as everybody else who replied)- what do you think they will look like when they are mature?

So sorry for your loss. They don't look old enough to lay eggs yet....wait a little longer. You also said you are not sure if they are females... I am pretty sure they are.

She really needs a friend or two. Ducks are flock animals and do much better with others! Very sorry for your loss!
