I have been trying to hatch Muscovy eggs (a friend was given some and her incubator was full) and have been monitoring air sacs to gauge progress, as I don’t have a proper scale to check weight. Here’s my problem: some air sacs have grown quickly while others go slow. I have been removing them from the incubator to cool daily and changing their positions in the bator to ensure that they are not being heated unevenly. It doesn’t seem to be related to size of the egg. What is going on?
Another issue: they are in their last few days now, and one egg pipped very early, then failed to hatch within 48 hours. When I went to help it, the membrane was dried on. This happened again with the next one. I did some further research and turned off the fan. Was that the right move? No other eggs have pipped (they weren’t due to start until today)
