now that is adorable.

These are some wild muscovies that lost their momma to a raccoon, so I raised them... All 11 of them! I must have been a good duck parent because they had babies this year :love

Oh... And they're all named Dave since I couldn't tell them apart as babies and Dr. Seuss apparently had a story called "Too Many Daves"
all those Dave's are such cute kids.

So if anyone hasn't already heard I only have two drakes & I was planning on getting ducklings but after researching duck rescues have found a lot of muscovy ducks are in need of homes after being abandoned and left to fend for themselves they then ended up in rescues.I felt sad for all the ducks & when I can I am going to get some adult ducks for my drakes so they can live happily and I am never pushy about getting eggs if they lay them great if they don't that's fine too they won't be loved any less. :)

That is awesome poult I am proud of you. Do you have a rescue close by. We have one in NC but it's about 2.5 hrs away probably a good thing or I'd have even more ducks and geese and chickens etc. .

It looks like most of them are at least 3 hours away but the places I like are states away so I am hoping they are willing to ship them. Most places are so :)

Any idea why do people abandon the Muscovies? Not what they wanted after they're past the "fuzzy and cute" stage? They seem like pretty laid back birds.

If its anything like I hear around here, it's because once they're no longer ducklings ots because they grow up into giant ugly birds. I disagree. However, a lot of the locals think so.
