Muscovy keepers share your pics!

Yep, chickengr, black to blue will always give you black and blue. However, the hens with chocolate won't breed true unless bred to a drake which also carries chocolate. Bred to a black drake the chocolate hen will have babies as if she's black and the blue fawns will have babies as if they are just blue.

thank you for all the information.

and people think if there is 1 male and 1 female that is a big deal, lol. I didn't imagine it is a science!

I'm trying to work with my broody hen, but still not much of a change. She still attacks me when I check for eggs, give eggs, or remove eggs.. my bruises are bumpy, extremely painful, and the bumps are kinda firm. Idk how much more I can take with trying to work with her this time. What do I do to stop it?

just leave her alone! ducks lived so many years without people interfering - I think that is her message.

I'm sorry she's doing that therry :( but u have to admit, she's doing her job, imagine if a snake were to try and get to her nest, aren't you happy tht she would attack it rather than abandon the nest?

My other ducks are protective, but don't have too many problems with them and aggression towards me. They understand that I'm not a predetor, but of course Still doesn't like being messed wit LOL..

Therry, have you tried holding her tail while you work from the back end? I don't mean pulling the tail out, but just getting a hold and using it to steer her beak away from your hands while you work. If that isn't an option then since Muscovy get up once a day you might want to schedule your nest checks for that time.

Well I'm making sure she isn't sitting on eggs, it's WAY too hot here for them to sit. The dog houses are much hotter. I have not done that, she always gets me and attacks before I can even touch a feather. She's a very good momma, which isn't the problem, the problem is her attacking me due to seeing me as a predetor. I will pet her untill she slows down on attacking. It's slowly starting to work, but my arm is nothing but a big bruise n bruises are firmly slightly swollen.

Oh no she's doing her job very well, I just need to get her to understand I'm not a predetor. I won't harm.

Oh yeahs mean I have some that are protective to, but liek they have never bit me before, my girls would probably let me sit on tere nest, my flock sees me as a duck I swear lol, yeah mine are pretty chill and the ones that r protective even slightly I wish they kind of weren't since I mean if I came down to it if rather have them then have the eggs

Yeah ik what you mean, she's the only one that attacks me. One I'm not sure about and some haven't even started laying so I'm un sure of how they'll be, but my lilac girls are the most aggressive.
