Muscovy keepers share your pics!

Lol the mean ones make the best moms. Breed her to a black drake and all blue babies and a blue drake will give you blues and silvers.
When they get older I will have to come and have you guys help me decide who to pair up (the pen they are in now is the future breeder pen just to be sure I get pure babies).

Ok here are more photos. Probably still not the right shots but they do not care what I want

Let me know and I can try again tomorrow if needed.

Please pardon this brief interruption to your regularly scheduled banter...

Please don't forget...deadline for "other poultry" calendar picture submissions is tomorrow. I know I've seen some wonderful pics on the duck threads that haven't been submitted yet...

one of our scovies snuck a nest into my shop. 6 eggs so far. All from a new male. So we pray all are fertile and healthy.

Sorry took a while got distracted with work but this black area started as a bruise - pink purple color then turned black and you can also see that tiny bump on side of upper bill

This spot in middle already kinda dried off but it'll be the second time by now and the bump looking thing on side

He gets fresh water everyday, he mainly eats crumbles mixed with grain/cracked corn combination, some dried meal worn in the morning. Other treats occasionally like beans, peas, corn, deli meats but nothing extreme. I haven't looked for the Veterycin yet and I thought we had Hydrogen Peroxide but didn't and that's why I just dabbed with alcohol

He's in a cage when we're out and he doesn't play in the dirt or grass.

Can you get a good close up of what your talking about? and an open wound and alcohol wow that has to hurt. Maybe see if you can get some Veterycin. TSC or other feed stores may carry it. it's safe to use on the face and doesn't burn when being applied.

I've seen this in our geese when they were juveniles before, we sat and watched them while they didn't know we were watching. It turns out they didn't like the new arrangement of being left by themselves to graze. (or were bored) My dad had moved a new table in their pen for additional shade and they were chewing on where the leg connected with the support, which rubbed the top of their bills till it was starting to get raw and put little cuts and nicks where there teeth are. We fixed their habit by removing that table, building another lean-to, and slowly increasing our time away instead of shocking and upsetting them by all the sudden making them spend their days alone except for feeding time. We fixed the cuts and scrapes with Neosporin (without pain reducer as that's poison to them)

If he's alone you have to get him a friend or a duck sitter as ducks are flock animals and, like all birds, when isolated from their flock (human out fowl) they tend to get depressed, which can kill them.
