So, my baby has turned out to be male & he is not happy being a house pet. He isn't vicious just aggressive, nippy & hissy around the other animals. I have raised him like I did my last house duck Daisy but I don't know if him being a male is making him not so mellow & calm. I'd like to get him to a home that has some girls he can woo & be a happy scovy.
His happiness means more to me than my want of a house scovy again. If anyone is in the Northern California area & would be able to love River like I do, please let me know. I don't want him to go to a freezer but live a happy scovy life.
Did you post on your state thread? I'm sorry it hasn't worked out. It took a while for my drake who was raised by us to learn not to be naughty around us and the dogs, but he did. Which I am thankful for. He does have his own girls though it does make a difference.

I did, I just figured I'd check here just in case a local was on this thread. I love him & I do wish I could give him his own girl friends, but I can't have two or more big scovies in the house. My yard isn't safe enough for always outdoor living, unfortunately.
It was just my selfishness & missing Daisy to think I could have another house scovy, I guess.

the thing is that some people say that they will take care of him could possibly do that, i wouldn't actually trust anybody except a few people on these forums, as well as only a few on this thread ( You know who you r XD ) i would give him time, or you know just get a mallard derived female house duck ( you know like a pekin or khaki campbell) bc they will have a smaller chance of producing babies. I'm trying to get my Indie to come home with me soon, and he's kind of nippy when it comes to his hormones, but then i pick him up and he just stops, you have to train males unlike females.
