Once he has bathed then you want to slather on the ointment and try to push it back in. It may not stay,so keep the penis good and moist, if it won't stay a vet can help. If it gets infected that can be serious. Sometimes they will dry up and fall off but always a chance of infection, best thing is to keep it good and moist with the ointment and keep trying to get it back in. He should not attempt mating for at least a month or longer. .
