Muscovy keepers share your pics!

The price was right and I really, really wanted a barred one. I just couldn't pass on somebody who had two clutches with half being barred.

And definitely worth it!!!!

I still have so much to learn about them though. I really have no idea what color one of the barred ones is. I am thinking that she is probably a lilac.

But with my adults and ducklings, I now have 19 Scovys.

All I know is there is a super light (most likely) barred one in the batch. It was the only one. Mom was a chocolate pied split barred and daddy was barred or split barred, possibly split chocolate. There was more than one drake that could be dad. Pretty sure it's a hen, I couldn't find a penis. Their flock had a lot of chocolates and various barred and split barred. The edging on the tail is very hard to see and the yellow down is the same color as her barred siblings. And also, a barred lilac duckling will look nothing like a lilac duckling. Out of 19 ducklings, there were 8 barred, 1 barred chocolate, 8 chocolates, 1 black and then the one super light baby with the same color down as all the barred babies.

I guess I will see when she feathers out, I was just guessing. I really like my lilac pied drake. It would be nice to cross them.

Your lilac babies are adorable. I hope to breed out some this Summer. I am going to cross my lilac pied drake and a chocolate hen.

Too bad we live so far apart, we could have traded babies later on.

How can I help my muscovy drake's wing feathers grow faster after I clipped them?

I honestly don't think there is anything you can do until they molt again and regrow the feathers. During the molt, I supplement mine with gamebird starter pellets and Calf-Manna pellets mixed in with their normal feed so they can get the extra protein. Oh and I also supplement black oil sunflower seeds year round too!

Thanks! After talking to a big muscovy breeder I decided to hatch a few to show this year in 4H. He said they are good quality and really likes what he sees. Although he could just be nice and afraid to say those are the worst qualoty I have ever seen.

Seeds can be harmful to their intestines since they can't really break them down, also they need more fats during winter. What i feed mine during winter is Purina layena ( pellets and crumbles) and as a treat twice or so a week I mix that in with corn ( cracked and whole) and cat food

I forgot about catfood! I also forgot to mention that they do get cracked corn as well. Oh and dried mealworms as a treat a few times a week. I think my Drake Larry would lay down and have a fit if I took away his sunflower seeds, they're his favorite!
