I haven't changed anything feed wise. Why would it swell now? And why did only one of the two ducklings last year have this and died and the other is perfectly fine?

how,Mutch do u feed them and yes some will drink and it goes away.but some eat to Mutch and keep eating and it blocks there air way.and they eventually die

What are you feeding? Do you have chick grit out for them or mixed in with the feed?

Have not given chick grit. I have Momma and baby in pen together. (Brood Momma - egg laid at other farm)

I have been feeding for both once a day:

1/2 cup wild bird seed
1/4 cup duck weed in water
I feed romaine lettuce too but baby can't bite that yet. She does love the duck weed.
Did add ground cat food for extra protein-maybe the problem, a couple of days ago a shot glass full, for protein.

Haven't been able to get to feed store for Turkey crumble.

I do have layer mash on hand, but the Muscovies have never seemed to like it so haven't been feeding it

Must have been what happened to poor Mimi. She was in pen with her sister-who as I mentioned is perfectly fine and they did always have more food than they needed.

Just did a little reading about grit and mentions oyster shell. Do have that available for momma. But kinda big pieces hard to imagine the baby eating any. I could grind some up for her or I have sand too, should I put either of those in the water or feed? Or?

no,don't feed sand just leave lots of water.less food and try as chick vitam that u mix with water.I hope it helps.
