All you experts in here would know best. Have any of you ever seen or heard of a mother muscovy actually picking up or carrying her ducklings? I checked on Ebony this afternoon and she had left her nest with her baby. I found the two of them in the run. The problem with that is that the door in the coop that leads down the ramp to the run is a good 10-12 inches up off the floor and there's no ramp up to it on the inside. It's possible they could've gone out the big side door to the coop which only has about a 4" lip but to get in the run it involves climbing up some good sized stumps that I can't imagine a first day out baby managing. My broody chicken's babies are a week and a half old now and even they are just starting to be able to climb them. It doesn't matter that she's in there, I'm just curious how she pulled it off lol
