Muscovy keepers share your pics!

Definitely a scovie, see how the tail is level with her body and doesn't curl up like the others'?

Oh and one more thing... AWWWW I wish mine would hatch!

EDIT: By the way, mallard-derived breeds (swedish & khakis for example

) and muscovies can breed together, but any offspring from them is basically worthless, since it cannot breed. Muscovy male and a MD duck can make a good meat bird though, or so I've read.

no ducky is ever worthless! Scovie crosses are still beautiful fluffy butted duckies who deserve lots of love

Goat_Walker! What a cute Scovie. I know you waited a loooong time to get one. Your little Scovie matches your other duckies very well. Cute flock!

Quackmire, 10wks is still pretty young for much caruncling. A few of my boys have just a single thick ridge above and around their bills, like your Quackmire, only thicker but they are about 14wks old. They are white heads, granted w/more white already, but like your Quackmire is going to be. That said, are you SURE Quackmire is a boy?

Thanks for the reply, John. I will pass your compliment on to Charlotte.

Charlotte IS pretty. She also has a longer & more elegant body line than my other adult girls. Her & Dukes boys are big and her barred girls are larger than the barred girls fm my other breeding females.
Yet she is not a Wild Type, but rather 'Black'/Atipico

.
We have one boy who is also. I do wonder if Duke was 'Black'/Atipico as a duckling and not a Wild Type. I'm going to try to get some close up photo's of the Scovies caruncling so I can do some comparisons. We won't be overwintering more than 2 or poss. 3 extra drakes. I'm hoping to keep a few extra ducks/hens also. The girls are just so sweet in general and it would be very tempting to keep a whole flock of them .... but

Here's pics of my others, I decided each pen would have 1 white hen..just for variety

. they're all still babies(under 6months), so theyre still developing their colors. Lilly changed from buff to silver within 2 weeks, it was really weird.

She's the same color as Montie now.

Young Drake (didn't get a picture of him yet), He's VERY chocolate colored in his fluff but is feathering into a really pretty lilac!

Nope, no idea if Q is boy/girl. We've always just kinda called "him" a he.

Actually, from what I'm reading, he is a little on the small side, so it is very possible that he is really a she.

I assume a gal will have less carunkling than a boy....

Quackmire, yes, your assumption is right. Gals have less carnucling than the boys. A few of my big ducks/hens are not much smaller than my smaller drakes soooo .....

Bleenie, Your Muscovies are just beautiful! I just love Sidney!
I just love his coloring & body shape. My Charlotte has that same shape. Just beautiful! Be sure to post updated pics of them once the younger ones molt out into adult feathering.

I definitely will. Sid is still going through his 'big molt' but everyone else is lagging a little. sid & kahlua have a lor more white & blue on them...its hard to tell Pretty & Kahlua apart these days!

I think everyone Should be fully colored in by January.

i was so overwhelmed when i found the breeder, i couldnt believe all the pretty colors she had, especially since we used to only have blacks & whites!
