Scovies lay a good amt of eggs, they just don't lay year round.

exactly! i have had dozens since they started in Jan.. heck i had 3 today, alone.

My Scovies started laying in Jan this year, first time ever.

I don't think mine are laying... not anywhere I have found yet, anyway. I'm looking forward to the time when one just doesn't appear for a few weeks and I write her off as dead before she comes back with ducklings. That's always fun

I thought Storey's said they only lay a few egg per year. How many do you get?

I think each Muscovy duck lays about 3-4 clutches/year here in MT and each clutch is 12-20 eggs. I bet it's more elsewhere where it's warmer

I am here in TN and our yearlings started laying eggs in Feb. They did a great job following the chickens into the nest box. But I have not found a duck in the box for over a week. I have a feeling they may have found somewhere else. Looks like I will be "egg hunting" this weekend. I have really enjoyed baking with the eggs. My lemon bars came out GREAT!!!! Bon Ap

I thought Storey's said they only lay a few egg per year. How many do you get?

I just reviewed my book, i found no such reference? perhaps, i missed it. That said i can assure you, they do not only lay a few eggs per year? Your probably thinking of how many nests they set per year.

I had 3 eggs laid yesterday and sold two dozen last night, so i can say with experience they do not just lay a few eggs per year.

Good luck! i have been fortunate the girls who were doing a lay out of the barn outgrew it as they matured.

I do have concerns too, that they fly. Our property borders a creek and once they get to that it would be the end, cuz I'd never be able to get them back. I was just down there the other day to see what was upsetting the Canadian geese. They squawk like crazy sometimes, but I didn't see anything. They took off when they saw me.
