Thanks.... Q and Stubbs (the b&w dog) have a very strange, loving relationship. She has loved the duck since Q was a tiny baby, and I misinterpreted her pushiness as prey drive. Once I started allowing them a little one-on-one time, I quickly realized Stubbs didn't want to eat Q, she wanted to be loved on by her.

You have some nice Scoives there.

4th pic - looks like a pretty black. Juvenile feathering tends to have the wild duck look but should molt out black w/irridescent blues/greens in the sun. I have blues that have the brown as juvies. That brown could pretty much disappear with the molt into adult feathering. I had one drake who molted out a darker blue with no brown to be seen. I have one hen who is a blue but has a brown tint to her chest.
I get confused as to what is considered blue/fawn & it may be that the lighter blue's with that hint of brown are fawns. Juvie feathering changes so unless you have pures it's difficult on some of these Scovies to known what you have till their adult feathering is in.

OSUman, Nice blue! I think the darker edge to the blue feathers is considered "lacing". I have some of those but with far less white & I do think I like more white/pied in my Scovies. I'm going to try for that in next years breeding.

Quackmire is a hoot!

Well, only the drake in second picture is blue barred. The last picture show blue drakes with no barring. Mother is an nice blue hen with rather dark head but in fact white headed. The father is an light brown/barred/pied drake. It´s rare with solid colors in Sweden and almost all muscovys in our country carry the white head gene.

keeperofthehearth: Yepp, even I think she going to be black but the pattern/colors have been different for her and 5 sisters. More dark than usual and an very wave like pattern on some with an brown undertone...

The 3 barred are in fact getting more brown on chest when they are getting older wich is unusual form my experience.

Exiting to see in the future what they are going to be

At last I am not alone there are people out there that love the muscovy ducks just as bad as I do. Due to a mean band of masked bandits I was only left 2 hens. But a friend found me Spooky and now I am up to 3 with about a dozen eggs in the incubator fingers crossed. Peacock is chocolate and white head. Henny is solid chocolate. She was hurt due to the raid so her wings are unable to tuck back up under her anymore but she still gets around great. And Finally Spooky is solid white with blue eyes. He was named Spooky because he is a younger spitting image of our original Drake Scoby.

Here are some updated pics of my four. Plus I got my first Scovie egg yesterday, and a second one today!

Awwww, EGGS! I'm suprised they are laying this late in the year. I will have to go have a talk with my girls. hmmmmmmm!

Sorry to hear that you lost some of your Scovies. When you have a chance, don't forget to post pic's of the ones you have.
