Okay does this count? I have a Muscovy duck sitting on 4 of my gooses eggs, her choice. lol forgot to mention she likes really big drakes and evidentally really big eggs too.

My pair of geese have a clutch started too!

I've only found nests for half the ducks - should I start having dreams of being taken over by a swarm of marching ducklings? (to the tune of the Nutcracker?)

I'm guessing the larger birds are the males???
Do they lay speckled eggs? I found one yesterday that looks different from my other ducks eggs.
Unfortunately I didn't pick it up and now it's gone, something is stealing/eating some of my eggs from the ground nests
I think I will borrow a game camera to catch the thief.

Yep, males are at least half again as big as girls.

Haven't seen speckled eggs, could have been extra calcium deposits - rough texture? or discolor in the shell itself?

My dogs are bad about mooching eggs they find "abandoned" but coons, possums, any number of egg eaters out there.

I haven't seen any signs of outside intruders, my yard is surrounded by a snowy field so I can see any tracks.
My dog might be sneaking in there when I'm not looking, or I've heard that Peacocks will eat eggs.

Well I was going to mention snakes love to eat eggs too, but if you still have snow on the ground scratch that one.

Yeah, they'd be reeeeeeeeeally sneaky snakes in the snow........

I'd be suspecting the pooches before anything else.
Blow out some eggs and reload them with a good dose of hot sauce, bit of wax to seal back up.
Don't let the dogs see you lay the bait. You'll know soon enough if they are the culprits.
Chances are it'll cure them of it too.......

I finally caught the thief, it was my 6 month old puppy. She was snatching them quietly then carrying them behind the shed for a snack. I like the hot sauce idea, thanks
