Muscovy keepers share your pics!

And plus sometimes ducks don't move like chickens in the egg so they probably weren't dead you'll know when there dead when th yolk floats to a side of the egg and turn black so they probably weren't dead till u opened them.

And also if they start to stink and it's a week or a couple of days till te hatch that's normal , most eggs start stinking a day or two before hatch, it can even be a week when they start stinking

If the eggs were cracked open and the duckilings were *not* moving, they were dead already, that I can guarantee. Opening the egg did_not_kill them!

As for smell, I've had thousands hatch under hens and some in the incubator and if they smell, that is *not* normal.

I was 100% sure they were dead before I opened them I've incubated over 100 chicken eggs so I'm not a noob to incubating ...just to ducklings.
I have an auto turner, so no missed turns. No power outages. I was cooling them for 10 mins and misting them just like the Muscovy hatching guide said.
There was absolutely no stink, they weren't infected with bacteria, they were just dead.

Thank you , Kathy for the link. I've already read most of it previously, except if there have been additional posts in the last week.

I'm just trying to grasp why they would just quit. I am going to lockdown tomorrow, that will be day 32. Unless you think I should lockdown tonight?

Yinepu is probably the best person to ask... send them a PM. I've read that some people do it at day 32 and some do it at 31.

I sent Yinepu a PM , so hopefully I can figure out what I'm doing wrong. Thank you for your help.

Keeping my fingers crossed that I'll at least have one duckling to post a picture of here in a few days. I guess we'll see how it goes.

So..got a scovy starting to sit on nest she stopped laying in, but now starting to lay again. she is supposedly an experienced mother that doesn't lay a lot of eggs, so left her with three of own last after stopped laying as well as three of another's eggs. now she has after days started laying again and getting off nest when day starts warming up but does come back on and off to sit ect temp before gets cooler again. other duck hen with her had stopped laying for week or two and gave up more on and off brooding of couple eggs id leave her (took eggs away as was freezing at nigh t hard here still but getting 70-80 daily), and now she is checking out hanging out in dog houses seemingly looking for another nest site.

Oh and also it can kill then when u take the out of the egg becuase wen u open the egg u let in expose air to a fetus who doesn't have a built up immune system so yes it can also by opening the egg u can tear veins!

Yes, opening it before it's ready *will* kill it, but not immediately. If it was alive in the shell you *will* see some movement, if there is no movement upon open the shell or shortly after, it was dead in the shell, period.

Take one that's about 8 days old, crack it open and you'll see the heart beating.

for buck, so you don't feel so bad about your pic. This was winter pic of my attempt at beard fashion.. not so good maybe, and I got thin too. Ferdinand the dracklet however looked adorable i think (he loves tummy rubs).
