Muscovy keepers share your pics!

Then what is it? That's what I've always been told and have only ever had it happen with eggs from people who have roosters or roosters close by that escape.

Never mind I looked it up! Oh man, this means my great grandparents were wrong! And they had all kinds if animals on there farm. Well I have now learned two new bird egg facts today. If my great grandpa was still alive I'd have to call and tell him, but he only made it to 106 years old..... so not around to call.

Thanks Kathy!

Hey muskuslove love those ducklings, did your duck hatch these? they are adorable.

Yes, my duck hatched these. She kept laying wind-eggs (do you call it the same?). So i put some fertile eggs under her to get her broody and stop her from laying eggs anymore. It worked. Monday we are going to the vet and she will get an implant, so she will never lay any eggs again. It`s better that way. I almost lost her. She really has problems with her belly (we say egg-battery)...

Whoa, Musk, those photos look positively professional! Those thould be on a postcard or something!

Hahaha, that sure would be nice.

Hey guys so I candled some eggs to see if they were fertile and I didn't see an embryo so I cracked ten open outside and two had a little white circle , were they fertile ?

From my experience you can't tell if they are fertile until they have been incubated for at least a day- then they develop blood vessels in them. I learnt the hard way when I moved a nest that was in a bad place and the mother abandoned them. Before incubation there is no way to tell if they were fertilized.

Hi there folks! I see (read) your in deep conversation, but i really would like to show you my ducklings! Just enjoy the pics! They are a blessing!

Only one question: the little drake keeps limping from time to time. I already at niacine to there drinkingwater, but he keeps having those moments... Is this normal??

Great pics! the mama let's you touch them! lol i cannot get near mine around here... i think someone said niacin? that is what you need.. personally if you can get a duck starter/grower that is easier vs supplements.. if their on that then one may need extra... so then supplements are the correct route. GL.
