. All 4 of Juniper's possible parents are pieds (I think) although the chocolate hen is questionable. She may just be a white head, and no he doesnt have another color on him. He is solid yellow.

It's the season for BROODIES!!!

First time mom, Chloe. I counted 6 little ones this eve but they tucked themselves away really fast. She had 10-12 eggs under her so I'm hoping for a few more tomorrow.

Then Charlotte with 19 eggs and a hatch date about April 27th.

Last up is Gracie and Hanna. All the eggs are Hannas but once she had a clutch of 10, Gracie who was sharing a nest with mom, Charlotte, got up & set on Hanna's clutch.

Hanna then laid 6 more eggs next to Gracie and began brooding them about 1wk later. They fought on an off for a few days but have finally settled down and are getting along. I don't know what shape those eggs are in with all the fussing and half laying on and off those two did at the begining.

And here is Dad, Jason. Hang'n out by himself, lonely, poor guy.

She may lay up to 20 + eggs before sitting. You can usually tell when the girls are getting ready. They will start acting broody, peeping and fluffing their feathers when they walk around. They will also start adding all kinds of fluff to their nest. She will start sitting on her nest mainly at night and then staying a bit longer in the a.m. before coming out. She may go and "check" her clutch once or twice during the day and then go in early to sit. Don't start counting the days for hatch until you see her sitting all day w/only a break or two (depending on the temp.)
