1chick magnet,

I usually leave the eggs and after a while they will decide they look good enough to sit on, lol. Mine usually start after about 15 eggs. maybe try golfballs or somethign similar to get them broody without worring about the eggs getting damaged.

She may lay up to 20 + eggs before sitting. You can usually tell when the girls are getting ready. They will start acting broody, peeping and fluffing their feathers when they walk around. They will also start adding all kinds of fluff to their nest. She will start sitting on her nest mainly at night and then staying a bit longer in the a.m. before coming out. She may go and "check" her clutch once or twice during the day and then go in early to sit. Don't start counting the days for hatch until you see her sitting all day w/only a break or two (depending on the temp.)

I didnt see your post. Thanks i think shes actally setting now because shes almost never out of her nest anymore.

Chloe finally had a chance to take a bath todayafter hatching her ducklings last Thurs-Fri. and being moved into her new digs. She spent some time preening and drying off in the sun while her babies watched and enjoyed some warm sunshine also.

Daddy Scovy, Jason, joined them for a short time & watched over them. He was a good Dad and behaved very well.
