Hi AmberH,
If 7mo. old then I'd say your Scovy was a girl. Not much caruncling to see. You can also tell by their voices - the boys will only be hissing by 7 mo. while the girls will be cooing and chirping. You had a very pretty black pied Scovy hen. So sorry you lost her & your chocolate.

Predators can be a real problem around Indiana

I dont seem to have any broody but I have 2 very well kept nests. There is around 17 in one and 9 in the other. I wonder why they are not sitting. Think the eggs stand a chance?

17roses,

Keep an eye on the nests, my girls usually pull out a TON of fluff a day or two ebfore they start setting on the nest. the bottomw one has a few feathers in it & a lot of eggs so maybe someone will start brooding it soon, good luck!

So I figured it out... Beige = Silver!! lol
here's my 1st beige colored baby, "Pinch", starting to feather in with silver & white.

Yep, Bleenie's right. They will start adding a lot of "fluff" before sitting. That one with 17 has the beginnings. You might see 20 eggs in there first.

Bleenie, those are some beautiful babies!
