Muscovy keepers share your pics!

I will try to borrow my sisters camera, it takes better close up pics than mine. the "beige" color i am referring to is like a light light tan. When i bougth my Silver girl Lilly, she was a light tan color and she molted into a pale silver..so it threw me when i got the 'funny colored' babies since ive never had any silvers as hatchlings.

So the 'beige' colored duckling will be silver as it starts to get its hard feathers in. Most of my birds have "boots"(colored legs, yellow feet) or solid colored feet. The Silver ducks will usually have blue on their beak and feet/legs.

I hope i am making sense, i'm a little doped up tongiht because of 2 bad teeth i have to have pulled next week

Well On 4/26 My mama hatched out 21 ducklings

I took all but three to sell at the flea market though. But she still has her three babies so she wasnt too upset... lol.

She started leaving them for multiple hours a day so I began to worry when I killed a four 1/2 foot snake yesterday eating my choco hens scovie eggs - which were in a nest right on the other side of my duckling pen. So i took them out and put them in with my three non scovie ducklings. Mama came and landed in the back yard and I let her babies out for a little reunion. But then she jumped onto the top of the fence and left - so I still have her babies locked up with mine.

Cute! Good move putting them in with the other ducklings. That will keep them safe, give them some company while mom is away and now mom knows where they are and can come hang out and visit. If your Scovy hen is leaving the ducklings for hrs at a time already, depending on when she began that behavior, she may be being bred regularly now and may soon start laying again .

A few days-week of regular snacks will take care of much of that!

Since my ducklings stay w/mom until I sell them or they grow up, they don't get handled & they listen to their mom, which is what I want. That said, as they grow, they grow more independant fm mom & when snacks are on the way, they listen less to mom and run up to me for treats.

There are always one or two that, fm the get go, run towards me when it is snack time whether mom says be careful or not.
