Muscovy keepers share your pics!

Thanks Miss Lydia

I have had quite a few hatches over the years but none so "mysterious" before

Indeed I have a pair of wild coloured runners in my flock. The drake often mated with the muscovy duck but everytime I saw them mating he did not quite succeed due to the size of the duck. But maybe he got lucky once or twice when I wasn't looking...

I'd love to see some pics of your runners, and that maybe the answer to your puzzle, lol I have LF EE's and Brahmas and 2 bantam roos that get the job done, it's funny looking to say the least when I see the roo riding on the hens back but he is doing the job so to speak. I'm thinking some of your off spring have a bit of runner in them.

looking forward to seeing them as they mature. don't know if I have ever seen a cross between a Muscovy and Runner before. Hey Frank, where are you in Europe? what is the time there? it's 7:49am here since daylight saving has taken over most of the country.

@ Miss Lydia: I am from Germany and it is 3:45 PM now. Although this thread is for Scovies, I will now just post a pic of my runners here...

Since the two have to face abuse from my larger ducks at night in the shed I bring them into the duckling coop in the basement every evening. The coop once built for rabbits l and meant for outdoors so it has two rooms, the small enclosed one and a larger with wiring on the front. The ducks seem feel more comfortable huddled in the smaller room.

They are definetely not show quality runners, but I like them nontheless.

Aww they are beautiful Frank I love their coloring. So looking forward to seeing how your newest babies come out, I'm thinking your runner drake may have hit the big time. lol

@ Miss Lydia: Yes, they are gorgeous! I am not a big runner fan but I love the colouring of the two. Considered that I pick them up every evening and again the next morning they are pretty tame, tamer as the average SQ runner.
I am also very excitet what my young ducks will look like when they are fully feathered. The two white ones might not look much different from scovies, but at least the large barred one is developing in a very interesting direction.

I almost got Runners a couple years ago, but all my flock runs together and I just felt at the time I wanted to keep my Scovies true to their breed, but I do hope one day to have a couple Runners. Do you show yours? and i am looking forward to seeing how your ducks turn out too, keep the pics coming.
