Muscovy keepers share your pics!

Cut and paste this in your browser and bookmark it. You can play plugging in the color of your ducks and drakes and see what color results you can expect. The recessives you have to look at what pops up and presents from time to time. The also have pictures to help. I'll go pull up a muscovy website that has a lot of great pictures to help ID colors in a sec.

Our first muscovy ducklings born here. They're so friendly compared to the pekin ducklings we've raised, they come running to the front of their cage as soon as I open the door and start diving out if I don't pick them up fast enough.

Awesome collection of pictures for color/pattern.

Mostly adults tho.

Maybe start taking pictures of ducklings and asking new owners to send pictures? That way you can start a means to ID duckling's eventual appearance.

Thank you for looking all those up. The first calculator has me lost in a conversion nightmare lol.

Their mother is odd, she's mostly white but she has colour.. underneath those wings is colour.. it's this dark grey/blue shade.

She is NOT friendly at all so getting good pictures is a nightmare.

What color is(are) the drake(s)?

There are different views so you can pick from pictures too.

I've been told we don't have true piedbald, septia or bronze in N.A.
The white is from an incomplete white gene pair for pied - so a Big W and small w pairing for the mom at least.
All the white, ripples and barring, white heads and piebalds - I consider "extras". Can leave them set while figgureing out how the rest impacts coloration.

Basicly the Chocolate and Blue genes (both have a place) are responsible for most color variations.
Males have two genes for chocolate while females only have one. So a male can carry chocolate and not show it or have a bit of "muddiness".
You won't get a male showing chocolate unless both genes for chocolate are present.
So if you just play with the chocolate and blue you'll get most of the colors.
The Lilac seem to adjust intensity/paleness for the lilacs, silvers, buffs, creams.
