Very few folks seem to have solid (non-white-heads).
Is it a purist thing?

The white head is a very dominant trait. I have one chocolate who i don't think is going too and i am awfully curious about one of the drakes i have in the latest clutch.

Personally, I like the contrast of a white head and flashiness of pieds, but totally get those that are trying to preserve recessive gene pools.

I don't mind it either, i think it's fairly hard to avoid. My chocolate from last year has white headed just like her mama but mama is a blue lol she's actually gone real pretty like a milky chocolate.

I have a mature chocolate pied drake who is pretty much solid color head.
I know as white head birds mature thier heads get more white on them.
Everybody has preferences - mine's chocolate pieds. The flashier the better!
Amazing color variations in scovies - neato peato!
