Very exciting. Hows the weather over there? My first broody Muscovy of the year decided to sit yesterday. She's sitting on thirteen eggs. Hopefully, she'll stay the course! It's her first time to go broody.
Seems the weather has been awful all over, keep us updated and look forward to seeing some ducklings. We have a new broody duck thread for this year too if you want to join in.It's horrible Miss Lydia! Lots of rain, wind gusts of between 80km/h and 120 km/h, temps of between 4C and 6C. She's well sheltered though so hopefully we'll have ducklings in 5 weeks.
They´ll be fine, I´m sure. You should see some of the weather we get here, ( all except snow) and it´s their natural environment! It's horrible Miss Lydia! I'm not so patiently waiting for mine to start laying again this spring. They have been roosting under the porch all winter. They like laying their eggs under there too...
Yes! I do that a lot....I enjoy it when I have the time. So far I manage to find the eggs just a bit before they start to sit, then I steal most of them......so far so good.....I can wait.. otherwise it's starts the where's waldo version of duck nest finding.
